In my studies this week, I learned that the “birah” [castle/fort/structure] of “בִּירָה אַחַת דּוֹלֶקֶת” — in that story about the structure illuminated or castle aflame — shares the same underlying root, ברר, we saw in “blessing.” Bet-Reish-Reish is related to clearing or taking outside and, thus, “to make clear, prove, ascertain” as well as to carving out a space in a more physical sense.
I also learned this week how to address some of the difficulties with sharing Hebrew text via WordPress and hope future posts may be clearer.
